I have a problem.I have a 99 Eclipse GS 5 spd. When I redline and power shift my clutch i getting kind of strange. When I put it in 1st and let the clutch go i vibrates, shakes, but after a while it gets back to normal.yesterday i raced my friend a redline it into 2nd,3rd and 4th..same thing happended although this time it didn't get back to normal.Any suggestion.s?Maybe i burned the clutch. Thanks for any help.

I'm sorry you're really going to have to try that again. It is really hard for people to try to distinguish what others' problems are when they are written well, much more when we have to decipher what you are actually trying to say in the first place.

Try to be a little more descriptive with what you are doing when the problem arises and what exactly happens and how it feels.

Also when you say power shift, do you mean like shifting without letting off the gas and slamming it into the next gear without using the clutch? You'll have to be more definite about what you mean when you use that term because it gets misused and thrown around alot. I'm not even sure if my own definition is correct.

By power shifting I mean shifting the fastest with using the clutch. After tht i put in 1st let the clutch go slowly and it vibrates, I can fell the clutch shakes..doesn't go smooth like normally does.Only happens when let it go..no problems when I press it.It only happens after I shift at the redline fast.Maybe that helps a little.

I had a 95 talon that did that but my clutch would usually break when I did that However it is really hard on you clutch and tranny to Power Shift (as in not use your clutch) I found out the hard way with 2 new clutches and 2 new trannys. you should read my post from today. The only way you can shift without using your clutch is if you have a Dog engaged clutch $$$$$ I also found that Limited Slip helped alot but its kinda $$ I found that the combo of a 2100 ACT and that were spensive but lasted the longest ecpecially while racing and regular street drivin :talon:

Evan with pushing the clutch in when you shift it takes a split second for your clutch to go from engaged to free spining (clutch in) to engaged again. I found it helped to push it in and hold it for a little bit before slaming it in gear. I also found that If I let it slip into geer instead of pulling it to gear. It takes a little longer but it shouldnt mater that much if you are quick enough. I am just wondering what you shift at. 7 or 6 or just before fuel cut off or what??And do you downshift allot becouse the guys at Wyotech said that is the #1 reason for transmission fails.I also think that the shaking when you start is the result of the spindle in your axle being thin which will eventually break and blow your clutch. Especially if you have accedentally started in 2nd even just once. Could you be More spacific about the shake to. :talon:

Normally when I drive I shift around 3-3.5 rpm . When I race Shift to second 7, to the third arond 7..same to the fourth. The clutch is almost back to normal...probably just slipped it. Eventually I will have to change the clutch. Any sugestions? My friend put a stage 3 clutch in his civic..little hard to drive but can get use to it. Does it make sense to put a stage 3 clutch into a car that has only about 150 hp??? What you think?

I love how the honda crowd needs to have preset stages in order for them to understand which clutches are stronger and which are weaker. I even had someone come up to me and ask me what sort of clutch I had in my car.. I said an ACT 2100. He asked "what stage is that?" I simply said stage 7 and walked away. What is the pressure plate rating on a stage 3 clutch? if it's 3000lbs then yes it's overkill. But maybe he is buying with the intent to have some safety zone for future mods.. Or maybe he just wants to be cool and say that he has a "stage 3 clutch" Nobody knows.... :|

Dont do it. Your (stage 3) haha is to much torque for you stock flywheel it will shater it. I tried it. 2100 Act is the absolute best for stock internals
