hey guys, i installed a panasonic radio on my 1991 TSI awd 5spd, and i went to adjust the radio bezel and had the car on and the radio on, and i inadvertantly disconnected the ground from the radio but the radio still worked. the dash lights worked as well. i took the key out, went upstairs to my buddies house, came out 20 mintues later, turned the key on, radio still unplugged btw, and i had no dash lights on my gauges or anything. then on my way home, i got pulled over by a cop that said my rear tail lights are out when the headlights and flashers work, but the rear liscence plate lights dont work either, the brake lights work fine. and when i re-installed the radio the proper way, it works just fine, and lights up no problem. maybe i crossed the orange wires that are for illumination on the stock unit? i forgot to put tape on them.
no fuses are blown i checked at least 10 of them:radio, stop, room, gauges, nothing is blown.

what could be going on here?! please help.
