Talon died tonight and wont go, ill try my best to explain what happened and maybe someone can give me some help or suggestions to the problem.

went to head out tonight, car was working fine.
driving for about 45 minutes, all was good. no problems at all.
I went to turn around in a parking lot and as I exited the lot I decided to come out a little hard.
I went to WOT and full boost in 1st gear, I went to shift at 5000-5500 Rpm and thats when it died..
when I got to second gear the car wasn't running.
so I pull over with the car still off and attempt to start it and nothing.
So I check everything I can, full tank of gas, nothing mission or visibly damaged under the hood, proper fluid levels and so on.
So I go and try to start it again, the car rolls over fine, no knocking or "bad" noises, it sounds normal when attempting to start.
so when a friend got there to help me we checked a few more things, hauled the timing belt cover off (I was in fear of a snapped belt), belt looks fine, seemed a little slack to me but he said it was normal ?.
next we hauled off the inlet pipe for the turbo, turbo looked ok, spins freely and so on.
so we put everything back on and check it over again, oil level is good, lots of gas and so on.
go to start it again and still just rolled over.
after that, I left the key in the on position and checked under the hood again, this is when we noticed a constant "ticking, clicking noise", seems to be coming from the intake manifold area, the upper portion of it, close to the fire wall.
there is a few sensors in the area, I'm just not sure which they are.
turn the key off and the noise goes away.
back to the on position and it came back, didn't seem as loud the next time we did it tho.
I always heard the ticking from inside the car each time i started it, actually had it checked out one time, mechanics told me it was just relays "turning on" and so on, they said its normal.
it just didn't sound right to me, or maybe it was just louder hearing them from the engine bay and not inside the car.
I checked what I could on the side of the road, she wouldn't go and I had to get towed home .
When the car died I never heard a thing, I had the radio on a bit but not loud enough so i couldn't hear what was going on around me, heard no bang, no boom or no snaps, no noises at all to indicate a major breakdown.
one other thing and maybe an important key is, by looking at the boost gauge while attempting to start it, it doesn't seem to be building vacuum ?
and I'm sure it always did and there supposed to ?
I don't really look at it when starting the car, but I did glance at it tonight and it didn't seem to be making vacuum when starting, should it ?
if they do and mines not what does that point to ?
With no sign of a snapped T belt or blown turbo and or anything else majorly wrong I attempted to start it again when I got it home, still nothing oviously...
its just rolling over, its not even attempting to start itself.
almost as if there was no spark or no fuel ? what it seems like anyways.
But they are 2 things I didn't check yet.

sorry for the long speech, just trying to make it as accurate as possible to help narrow it down.
anyone have any ideas or suggestions to help me get her going again ?

well, something failed on you...
just becuase youre timing belt didnt snap doesnt mean it didnt skip, youre gonna have to check timing marks.... also, i hate to say it, and dont take this and run with it.... but could crankwalk cause this, I dont know personally if it can fail instantly like this but I know it can fail in a very short period of time...
secondly the ticking from manifold area is either your injectors, or youre isc motor...
I say check the timing, put the crank notch to the 'T' position on the timing belt cover...
and look at youre cam gears, the dowels should be at 12 o clock, and there are 4 marks at 3 and 9 o clock on each gear, if the timing is fine, these will all be straight across, use a straight edge to determine this.
good luck.

No, it's not crankwalk.

Most likely your crank gear ate some teeth off the belt and you've jumped timing. Check the marks, inspect the whole belt, and check your compression. How old is the timing belt?

update, maybe a key to figureing this out ?

the ticking under the hood is loud for a second or two, then it stops and starts again, but not near as loud.
the ticking is coming from a little box ( im not sure what it is right now ? relay ?) its located on the upper right hand side of the intake manifold, has some wires that seem to go back through the fire wall.
the unit is maybe an inch long is size ? give or take. thats the best way i can discribe it.
anyways, that is whats doing the ticking and such with the key in the on position.

well, heres an update for today.
checked the timing, seems to be on its mark. took it up to tdc and the cam marks seemed to have lined up the wheels.
so that rules that out for now.
second, i checked spark... and as of now, that may be my biggest problem. I checked all 4 plug wires ( used the screw driver in wire trick) and i couldnt get anything out of all 4 plug wires.
I inspeced the coils and they "look" to be fine.
is there any way to test the coils to get a legit opinion on those ? to find out if there cooked or not.
took the plugs out, they seem to be burning perfect.
thats about all i checked today, any new opinions or advise ?

I had a very similar problem to this. Turns out my Ecu took a crap and a couple caps blew. Also check your intercooler piping because i also had a pipe blow off once and my car wouldnt start either.

most of the people ive talked to and asked said its ECM related,
is there a way to get these tested or anything ? or is it the kind of unit you have to get a new one and hope its the problem ?

YES !!
EclipseTrbo420A your a saint, that did it, and as hard as this is to beleive, my car has never ran so good, starts better, idles better and so on, maybe that plug was loose for a while ?
anyways, I think your right, this may be more of a common problem, cause mine was loose to the point where it was almost falling off, but with where its located, its not really something you can see.
if you didnt post, I would be still searching for answers and most likely spending a ton of cash trying to figure it out, so thank you ! :thumb:
also, mine will not clip back in properly, same as yours, so im going to look at it in the morning to see how i can get it to stay secure.

Thanks again EclipseTrbo420A.
