I recenly got a 95 gsx. A few days before i got the car the previous owner just got a 50k tranny put in. he also ahs act 2600 and a lighten flywheel put in. I asked for him to give me the paper works but he said, "i forgot it at home.." So i have been driving it for a few days and everytime i press the clutch, i feel a small bumping or moving up and down like abs when slipping during breaking. AS of yesterday i drove the car when it was cold to the end of my block i felt a pull back and the car started shaking/hesitating. Now i don't feel the clutch moving bouncing when i press on the clutch. THe car's idle is at the bottom around 5-600rpm.
Everytime i try to get to 2k rpm the car will reach 1.6 rpm and then start to continue very slow to 2k rpm. When it reaches 2 k rpm the car jerks and then the rpm jump up as well as boost. during this tim the car only reaches up to 10 psi and then the jerking begins to happen. After i release the gas pedal and release the boost and the rpm goes down, the car runs okay again except for the idle.

When i am on the freeway the car sometimes jerk and fell like it is slowing down. THere is also some sort of backfire or noises coming from the back while this is happening. The car sounds like metal is falling of from under the car.

The idle throttle positioner i was also out of place so everytime i come to a stop the car would die unles i rev it a little to keep it up. sometime it would die when i am driving and the car is in motion. ever since the car is idling bad and hesistating the car has not died yet and i alos fixed the ITP. The car also has lsd.

I was thinking that it could be boost leak, vaccunm leak, clutch flywheel?? ?

can someone point me to the direction of making a boost leak tester, doing a compression test for a gsx, and getting a vaccum leaker test?

sorry for the long post up but i just wanted to be specific.

This is a link to tell you how to make a boost leak tester.

http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ICtester.html

They used a bike pump nozzle, I used a 1/4'' air compressor nozzle. Either one works, the first one I made with the bike pump nozzle leaked so I went with the air compressor one. If you do the air compressor one, make sure to not over-pressurize your system or you will be popping hoses off. I built a pressure gauge and a beeder into mine so it wouldn't go over 25-30 psi.

As for the compression testor, you can pick those up at most automotive stores for around $30. You remove all your spark plugs and the testor screws into that hole. Start with #1 piston(closest to the timing belt) and unplug the fuel and spark wires (down by the coil pack on the driver side). Have someone get in the car and crank the motor over about 3 times and see how high the needle goes. Repeat for all 4 cylinders, and make sure your battery is fully charged before testing or the numbers will get progressivly lower as you move from cylinder 4 to cylinder 1.

well i am going to do a compression test later or tomorrow. I'll have to wait on that boost leak tester for next week when i get some money. and I was searching through the vfaqs and found out that i had most of the symptoms of a messed up center differential.

How can you tell if it is messed up or broken?
Can you still drive with a messed up Center Differential?
How much would it be to get a new one?
Could a broken center differential effect the way the car idles low?

Okay...i am driving my car on the highway and the car keeps making popping noise from the exhaust and my neddle on my boost gauge sometimes go up 1-3 psi of boost. This only happens on the freeway. It doesn't happen on small road. When i drive the car goes blurrr pop pop (car shakes/ hesitate) pop pop blurrr. It only happens when i try to keep the same speed. It doesn't happen when i press the gas or when i let go of the gas pedal.

i think you got crankwalk. check the front crank sensor, have someone step on the clutch, and see if the front harmonic balancer moves in and out. if it does, you got hosed.
