hey guys i installed my greddy type-s last night onto my 2g. everything hooked up fine, i connected the lower nipple to the bottom of the turbo for the quicker response. i put zip ties on all the lines.

heres the problem:
1. i was running 14psi on stock turbo and dejon tool mbc. after i installed the type-s and went for a drive, my gauge pegged and hit 24 psi OMG!!!
2. i freaked out stopped the car, and adjusted the screw, and checked the hoses. no help what so ever.
3. i disconnected the lower nipple and checked for leaks in gasket. NO HELP AT ALL.

i adjusted the screw almost all the way down about 3 threads left. and pretty far up. the sound is quick, tite, and shows no signs of compressor surge or fluttering.

WHAT SHOULD I DO....please help i gotta drive the car today!!!

turn down your boost controller, thats how much your stock bov sucked. you were spinning it fast enough for 24 psi but the intake manifold was only seeing 14 since so much was escaping from the leaky stocker. took a lot of life off the turbo doing that i am sad to say, your lucky it didnt blow.

bov has nothing to do with boost level unless its leaking. turn down the mbc

i did turn the mbc all the way down like titghtened it to close and it still didn't work. even when i put the stock bov on and have the mbc tightened it stillr eads 14 psi. if i wanted to disconnect the mbc, what would i do with the hose coming off the wastegate actuator? my mbc is tapped in to the bov line going from my bov to intake manifold and off of the wastegate actuator line.

THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS I APPRECIATE IT

it sounds like your mbc is routed correctly, you may want to make sure you have the lines going into the right nipples on it though.. also, on every mbc ive seen tightening the mbc is what raises boost, loosening it lowers it. back that bi*** way up, the looser it is the more pressure gets through and the more the wastegate opens, lowering boost. putting on your stock blowoff valve isnt doing anything to lower the boost your turbo is making, spinning it that fast is horrible on the t25 and will kill it quickly.. all that stock bov is doing is leaking at 14psi so thats all your intake manifold is seeing, as you just found out, your turbo is working way too hard. run a small peice of vac line from the pressure source nipple on the t25 (the one you have connected to the lower nipple on the type s) directly to your wga, this should limit your boost to around 14psi. let us know what happens, if this works the problem is your mbc, if not the problem is your wastegate

man thanks for all of your help, i would have never guessed that, im going to put the greddy back on and back the mbc way the fook out haha. yea i was pretty upset last night, i seriously thought i was gonna blow my engine. it was bad enough that there was a sizzlin sound underneath my spark plugs. ill b back in 30 and let u kno what happened

a sizzlin sound under your plugs? heh i dont even want to get into that one :)

you are lucky you caught this before something happened to the t25, i wasnt so fortunate. i usually recommend 2g people upgrade their uicp/bov before raising the boost for this very reason, its too easy to spin that little turbo too fast and ruin it because the plastic bov is leaking so much.. and you would never know it because the boost gauge you are reading is only telling you manifold pressure.

you should notice a nice little gain when you get it dialed in right, the 14 psi you were running before was superheated by that fast spool, the type s just bought you a nice little reduction in intake temps. bonus :thumb:

let us know if it worked

IT WORKED!!!!!!!! OMG im so happy. i turned my mbc now and its actually reading 14psi, the wsshhhh sound is very tite and accurate.

i still have a couple of questions:
1. my wastegate solenoid no longer has hoses coming from it should i plug the holes?
2. i left about 6 threads open on the adjustment screw on the type-s. it sounds about right but between 2 and 9 threads it doesnt really make a diff?
3. is there nething i can do to help my engine out after that incident (sounds kinda nubbish huh? i love my car too much i guess) :)
4. i changed my vaccuum hoses to red ones (don't worry I'm not a ricer, i just wanted the engine to look a lil better. do those hoses suck? are the solid black better for any reason?
5. FINALLY THE MOST IMPORTANT, under very minimal boost the BOV reacts and makes a sound but it sounds kinda like a laser gun in 007, is that normal? theres no jerking or nething so i dont htink its compressor surge.

i cannot thankyou guys enuff. this is why DSM's r the best because everyone is willing to help...ROCK ON

1- yes if you ever want to use it again, vaccum nipple caps are like a cent

2- that screw is mainly to keep it shut during high boost situations, i had mine about halfway. the tighter you have it the more likely you are to surge

3-dont worry about it, you didnt hurt anything

4- you could have red garden hose or red silicon so who knows. as long as its advertised as vacuum line it should be fine.

5- it sounds different at different boost levels. at low boost mine fluttered a bit. there probably is a bit of surging going on but dont worry about it. basicly, its normal.
