MBC won't give me more boost?

I installed a MBC like the one pictured and for some reason it won't add any boost. When I got the car it made 10psi with a peak around 11psi occasionally. I installed the boost controller with the bolt almost all the way unscrewed and the car made 8psi so I started turning it in to dial in more boost and I ended up with the bolt turned all the way in so that valve is basically shut off and I'm still only making 10-11psi. Do I have a faulty MBC?

do you have the lines on the mbc reversed? make sure you have the right one connected to the bov line and the wga. disconnecting the vac line from the wga altogether and going out for a test run to see if the car will boost past 11 may reveal a damaged wastegate as well. dont floor it and spool it to 30 psi obviously, but get on it and see if it gets past 11, if it does let off immediately, and take comfort that its not the wg itself that is ####ed. you probably just have it hooked up backwards

I have the nipple opposite the adjustment bolt T-ed into the BOV vacuum line and the nipple that points down is connected to the wastegate actuator.

but don't overboost! Just give it some gas in first to see if the boost raises past 10-11 and you'll know for sure. The boost rises quickly, dont get addicted to excess :thumb:

I just disconnected the line and plugged it and it made 8psi, I removed the bolt I had plugging the line and easing into it it'll make about 16psi before it hits fuel cut.

Good. Then you can't blow your engine up, yet.

Boost isn't what causes fuel cut.

What does cause fuel cut??

Well since my MBC doesn't work I removed the oval screen from that MAF, and also backed out that plastic screw so that it doesn't restrict the flow through the mass air. I then hooked the vacuum line from the wastegate actuator to the port on the air can and removed all the BCS stuff. The car now spikes to around 19psi and falls back to about 15-16 psi up top with no fuel cut and no audible detonation.

"audible detonation"? Now thats a tuning mod I wouldnt care to mess with.

its when you hear that sound the rod makes when it blasts out the side of the block :thumb:

Hmm so the stock 14B is capable of enough boost to break the rods?
