AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
alright heres the scoop, i took my 95 TSi awd up to this place called the tint shop :thumbdown where this guy who works there thinks he knows everything about talons. i had him hook my SAFC up 4 days ago and in the process of not knowing what the heck hes doing and telling me and i quote "man this safc is f***in fried man" he touched 2 paper clips Power and ground together that were connected to my ecu and fried it. Ok so what i did was i took my ecu up to brighton tv and electronic repair and had them take my afc and my computer apart and they said the AFC is FINE totally fine the dick that hooked it up must have hooked it up wrong cause only the buttons light up and not the screen. however the ecu was fried and im pretty sure its an emprom or what ever because its got the E in the bottom right corner and i found another 95 manual TSI ecu and bought it today and it had identical numbers except instead of an E it had a T and the junkyard dude told me taht donst mean anyhting. so i hooked it up and now my car is idleing ok but running like SHIT total SHIT fluttering at wot until about 10 seconds of bababababbaba fluttering then sounding better and still going slow and abnormal not mentoining the HUGE black smoke coming out of my exaust leaving GUNK in my muffler making it BLACK and goey when i accelerate... please some one tell me i have the wrong computer or SOMETHING!!! also i have brand new oil, plugs and wires that i bought tonight so i know thats not it it ran fine before this guy fried my ecu... anyways please help

thanks - pert :barf:

You already posted this in another thread - Cross-posting is kinda frowned upon around here.
The "E" tells you that you had an Eprom ECU. A "T" or an "M" tell you that it's not. If the numbers were exactly the same then it's an ECU from the same Make/Model... Did you hook the ECU up directly or do you have the S-AFC installed also? Looking at your profile, you're running 550's with a Walbro 255 - If you don't have some kind of fuel management going on, it's gonna run like crap and billow black smoke - that's unburnt fuel. If your S-AFC isn't installed, install it and fix your fuel trims.

well the wiring harness for the safc is hooked up but when i plug the safc in only the buttons light up orange... does it matter if i have a non eprom ecu if i first had an eprom one? my car ran fine before i fried the ecu and now with the new ecu it runns like garbage... do i need another eprom ecu or no?

You don't need an Eprom for the S-AFC, but if you ever decide to invest in a DSMLink, you'll have to have an Eprom ECU.
Are you 100% positive the S-AFC wiring harness is wired in correctly? If this pinhead fried your ECU, it's possible he nuked your S-AFC as well.

my afc is fine and my ecu was fried any other way to explain the shitty running car problem its gotta be a bad ecu... the air fuel mix is WAY off...

anyone know where i can get the 95 eprom ecu for a manual awd talon turbo??? is there any way that the ecu is fine but something else got fried??? please help

If you hook up your AFC and only the lights glow orange, then either the harness is hooked up incorrectly or the unit is fried. No if's, and's or but's about it.
Out of curiousity, how do you know it's fine? You said someone told you it was, how did they determine that?

i think that nate hooked it up wrong because i took it to an electronics repair shop and the guy took it apart right in front of me, tested the whole thing with a modified volt meter and said the afc is totally fine. im going to get my stock computer back tommorow and give the used one i bought back and get my money back as well, im going to either have the guy who hooked it up that fried my ecu buy me a new one or hes going to have a law suit on his hands :thumb:

thanks alot for all your help hua.
sincerely Pert :| :talon:

ok so today i went back to the junk yard and got a different ecu that accually is an eprom... i put it in and it ran alot better but still studders a little between shifting gears, and in between 2000 and 3000 rpms. also after i drove it to work today and got back in it to go home when i started it up for the 2nd time the CEL light was on and stayed on. also my stock boost gauge shows no reading at all its all the way at the bottom and not moving... when im in neutral it starts to rev till about 2 grand then it goes babababa for about a second and black smokes while its bogging, then it finishes out the rev just fine and no more black smoke after its done bogging. also if i downshit at like 45 mph into second and hit it it takes like 4 seconds of bawwwwwwwwwww before it accelerates again.

PLEASE SOME ONE HELP!!
