Well i'm not ready to give up on my Eclipse, i love it but its giving me some problems that i can't find answers to. My check engine light came on (driving normal at the time) so i went to autozone to have it diagnosed. it came back saying i had a low fuel trim PO170 bank 1. They cleared the code and the check engine light hasn't come on since. It worries me though cause i've done nothing to address the problem and i've noticed that my egt temps are up 2-3 hundred degrees while driving normally at highway speeds I"m running on the stock fuel system but have turned my boost up to 19 psi on my T25. Anyone have any sugestions on what my problem could be? I did a search and found some ideas but wanted to ask to see if anyone had a definitive answer to this problem. It looks like it could be a number of things. I'm just wondering if its due to the mods i've done to the car or from running to high of boost on the stock fuel system. Any sugestions would be appreciated, Oh and does anyone have a simple solution to getting rid of that notorious lifter tick like an additive i can buy from autozone or on line?

If you are going to mess with the boost you NEED to have an a/f guage. Especially with the stock fuel system as it cannot support as much boost as the turbo. Turn the boost down before something blows up!

I do have one, its an autometer c2 a/f, Everything seems to check out ok on it it doesn't show me running lean at all i'm rather rich according to the gauge not to mention the black exhaust marks above my exhaust tip. But i kinda assumed it was rather inacurate and more of a piece of eye candy as far as gauges go. Its my favorite one of the 3 gauges i have though and would never get rid of it even if it doesn't tell you much or anything at all. I like watching it bounce back and forth and like thinking that everyone around me is watching it too wondering what is that thing?

Ok so i gathered that i should have my boost turned down first off, but can i assume that my problem is fixed if i do that? I ask because when i'm driving normally (not boosting) my egt temps are higher 2-3 hundred degrees then normal which leads me to believe that something else is wrong with the car.

I recently got my p170 fuel trim code to go away... here's what i did

1. fuel filter
2. are your honeycombs in tact? if not, replace them or check the MAS. when I put mine back, car hasn't throws p170 since.

I had the code once this summer. I deleted it and it never came back again.

Pull your plugs out and check them for signs of either richness, leaness or possible detonation. This might lead you in the right direction. Or do what I am going to do .....buy a wide band O2 sensor and really find out what is going on in your engine. :thumb:

Thanks for the ideas I"m gonna pull the plugs and see whats going on in there and see if i can figure out why its putting out hotter egts.
