I have a 96 TSI awd that needed a head gasket . Decided to upgrade to a 1G head at the same time . Used a 1G head with a port matched 2G intake, ported 2G throttle body and upgraded elbow, 1g water pipe and housing , and swapped a 1G CAS over per roadrace instructions to the cam and crank wires .... Double checked the wiring on that ... its just as the online process describes ... car will not run .... did new bearings and stock rods also .... did a presure check and each cylindar is 150 on compression .... getting fuel and getting spark .. won't start ... didn't mess with repinning the ecu yet ... wanted to make sure I could get it going first .... new plugs gapped to .035 ... new spark plug wires .... wires are correct per the firing order ... adjusted the cas both ways ... won't start ... did a new timing belt too ...... cam timing is perfect after 4 tries and rotationg the exhaust cam clockwise a tooth before tensioning .... aslo did a walboro 255 intank ... getting fuel just fine ... any ideas ??????

I just did my 6 bolt swap and had the same problem. Here's what I did:

Switched the coil and transistor back to my 2G one. Set the spark plug wires back to the stock configuration, then swapped them as per RRE. I also made sure the BISS on the throttle body was open so the car could start up and idle. After that it finally cranked and started up.

I would try that , but I am using a 2g manifold , coil pack and transistor that has been ported to match the 1g manifold ..... any other ideas ??????

uhh - this i gota see.
i assoume ya mean you trim'd them to fit.
ya stated that the plug wires are right - id swap them anyways just as a test to be sure

also, are you 100% sure the 1g CAS works ? if not the car will not run.
( but then agian ya wouldnt get fuel/spark either )
