I just changed oil types last night from Quaker State peak performance to Mobil 1 10W30 based on the threads I read here. When I fired it up , I noticed white smoke coming out for several minutes. I put my hand in front of the muffler and smelled it and it didn't smell like it was burning, but it did have a odd smell to it. After about 10 mintues or so, it finally stopped. Is this something I should be concerned about or is this just because I changed from regular oil to synthetic? Oh my car is a 98 spyder 4G64 engine.

Thanks,
J :dsm:

Probably just condensation burning off. Both my wife's and my DSM does that when we start them when they are cold.

white smoke-did it have a funny almond/antifreeze smell?

Somewhat smelled like that. The problem is that I have a cold so my sense of smell is kinda off to begin with.
I'm about to go out again and drive it during lunch. I'll let you know if it does it again.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Back from Lunch. Car seems to run just fine now. Actually with the new oil seems to be a little more responsive than old oil. The car has a little over 84000 miles on it.
