Same year same make and model, same everything-except my old ECU was ca and i want to get a federal one. I have heard that the only difference between the two is a resistor for the EGR valve between 129 and 130. I have heard that it doesn't matter in the 1990 if its there or if it isn't. I have also read some posts saying you cant do it unless you cut out the resistor. I was just hoping for some clarification on if I put a federal ECU in place of my ca ECU if i will need to cut out the resistor.

You should be fine using a Federal ECU.

It's when people with '90s want to use a California ECU in a Federal car or after disabling the EGR on a California car that they have problems.

The '90 ECUs, because there is different code for CA and Fed, don't seem to respond to the resistors like the later ECUs do.
