I have a 1g with 115k on it, it boosts fine, drives fine, but when I first start it up, and touch the gas it smokes, doesn't smoke while it idles, only if I touch the gas, so I drive it up and down the street, Mom says its smoking constantly, so I drive it to work, get out, stick my foot in the car and rev it up, give it some good revs, bov opening, so turbo is getting a little spool, and guess what, not a bit of smoke...I'm thinking valve guide seals? but sometimes even if I have drove it for a while, it will smoke, wether its heated up or not, is this the case with Valve guide seals? I would think it would be more consistent, but its not, like I said, I get to work, no smoke...the other night I was driving, got to a friends house, and it was still smoking. I'm lost. I'm doing a compression test this weekend, but I'm not thinking rings are bad, at this time I will check for shaft play on the turbo as well.

Mine burns oil too but not much. I believe it's normal since it is a turbocharged car. :)

LOL if it wasnt so much I would call it normal, but this is my third turbo car, and its just a bit to much smoke for me to shrugg off :(

Hrmm did you check emissions stuff (PCV, MAS/MAF, etc.)? Even cleaning the throttle body might help....I know that my friend who replaced her turbo went from stock to evo 16g it smoked for a bit only to get rid of the access oil.

I'm thinking it could be the PCV valve, but my guess is the valve guide seals. Its an all to common problem with mitsubishi stuff.
