Ok I've already tested the TPS by following the directions in the Haynes manual. Fully closed I get 4.7 ohms or whatever the units are. But the thing is when I open the throttle, it gets no reading at all, it shows that 0.L reading (sorry I don't use voltmeters much) the manual says the reading is supposed to stay within the range when opening and closing the tb. Oh yeah this was on pins 2+4.

Here is my dilemma though, I recently got pulled over and now I have to get my car refereed. So every engine modification I had I put back to OEM, except for the Walbro 190lph FP. I've checked every vacuum line I could've possibly touched and made sure every clamp, bolt, nut was tight. During the time I was putting everything back on, I replaced the alternator so I thought it might be a defective alternator so I returned it. I got a new one again today and still the same thing.

Now the problem is when I start the car, the rpms will drop to 100. If I just start the car and leave the throttle alone, it'll stall within 10-15 sec or so. I can keep it on by giving it a steady throttle, but for some reason the rpms will start rising by itself when my pressure on the pedal doesn't change. It won't idle out of it's own will. There are no codes being thrown, but one thing was weird, my dad took a look at the car and left the MAS unplugged. I started the car not knowing this and the car actually idled pretty good, the rpms stayed around 900-1000. Even if I revved it up, it didn't die, it would just settle back around 900.

I don't know if this matters but I remember when I did a log a while back my TPS would read at max 92% average was 88%.

PS. Mind you I never tried driving it on the road yet because I can't even really pull out of my driveway without it dying. And I need to get refereed too so I can't drive it around but I'll drive it around the neighborhood just to make sure it runs.

When my buddys TPS was messed up. It would run fine until you got on it, then all of a sudden it would just loose all its power and just jerk hard.

Have you tried keeping the car running till it's at 100 percent operating temperature? If so how does it idle then?

Have you tested your ISC?? I had the same problem an thats what it was. Try unplugging the ISC (under TB elbow) and opening up the biss screw and it will run for the time being.

What do you mean by opening the biss screw? Just backing it out all the way?

not all the way, but like 3/4.... when my ISC died i didnt have the funds to replace it. So i unplugged it and loosed the biss till idle was 500rpms in gear and drove like that for about 2 weeks.

Well good news, it's back alive...it was a mistake on my part when removing the intercooling piping at the tb. On the tb there is two bolts on the left side and two studs on the right side that the tb mounts on. When I was removing the nut from the top stud, it removed the whole stud with it, the nut on the bottom stud however came off by itself. What happened was the gasket between the tb and the manifold was being held on by the bottom stud so it wasn't sealing.

I found this out when I was removing the tb to inspect the IAC and the TPS. So all is now good, idles like a charm and I took it around the block and everything is fine...I'm not used to driving around with the stock exhaust though (really quiet inside) I put the dejontool intake on though just to have all the vacuum lines intact but that will be put back to oem.

Hmmm...seems like the problem still persists, but not nearly as bad. The other day I took my referee test and I passed but on the way there I stopped at the bank. I came back to the car after cashing my check, started the car and it fired up but immediately died. I tried it again a couple times with the same outcome, then eventually I revved it up right after starting the car and it idled on its own.

It's doing what I thought was cause of the alternator on its way out but I guess it wasn't. I ordered a new tb to manifold gasket because mine got a little bent, when I put that in I might test the tps again and the iac as well. I noticed my tb has been staying open on it's own lately so I might clean it out also...while I'm at it I'm going to flush my coolant since I haven't touched it since I've bought the car (only thing I haven't done maintenance wise, other then the fuel filter).
