to answer your question... if it's really what you want to do.. all you have to do is unhook your battery (just detach the negative) for 30 seconds or so.. hook it back up and the CEL will be gone.
however, as defiant says.. it's probably there for a reason. and that means it will be back if you just clear it and don't do anything to fix the problem
if you go to autozone, they'll read the code for you for free and let you know why the CEL came on in the first place
 
If its for passing inspection, ie you have no cat, egr valve is blocked off ect... take the gauge cluster out and remove the back light that lights up the check engine light!
 
the reason is because I blew off one of my intercooler pipes after installing the supra IC and the CEL went on. I pulled the negative off the battery and it worked great. thanx! :thumb:
