This is a question for my friends 98 gst. Only mod done to this was the BOV dump tube i believe it is called was removed. Also i think some restrictor was taking off or changed so it runs higher then stock boost (i told him that was bad and not to beat it) . Im not too familiar with the setup i only dealt with the 420a. It has been running fine for a few months since he had it.

This is what happened to him he was driving home from work car was running fine. Went to pull out hard and in the middle of acceleration the turbo started whistling really loud and he lost all power. also the BOV is now making a flutter when it goes off.

I believe his turbo is shot because he has been shooting oil out of the BOV and also a lot of smoke out exhaust during high acceleration. But before i hook up some Fuel pressure and boost gauges to it i wanted to hear from the experts. The car seems to run/idle fine just with no power.

yea, if he is blowing oil into the intake manifold, through the intercooler (a small coating of oil is normal to have in the intercooler) and through his exhaust...then i would say it is a shot turbo, time for a big 16G or BIGGER!! (with supporting mods)
