OK so it's freakin' hot in Texas and I'm not going to roll without AC. But recently, the AC belts (I'm guessing)start to squeak when I start up the car and switch the AC and sometimes it squeaks when it's idling.

And when I get on it (say downshift), the belts squeak all the time.

Also, it happens when I make an early sharp turn shortly after starting up the car.

Do you think it's time for a refill from the dealership or something or does someone else have a similar problem in the past? I'm completely dumbfounded.

Put new belts on it. They squeak when they go bad.
Or if you don't want to deal with that PITA right now then just tighten them up a little bit. All the adjustment bolts are pretty easy to get to.

If you don't have a Haynes or a Chiltons manual, get one tonight.
It's so easy to do, you just gotta get in there.
You can reach the 2 12mm screws from above.
You can't get to them from below.
Just my $.02

Good Luck.....

Don't be cheep. Buy belts from the dealership. They will last longer and will never screem.
The belts from the auto stores suck. shread up and all types of crap.

Thanks for the replies guys. But this is my current situation.

I just replaced the alternator before the clutch with new belts. So it has new belts (that are tight), and a new alternator. They haven't even run for 200 miles yet because it's been sitting the whole summer while I've been working on it... and I had to break it out again because college has just started.

While I was working on it, I accidentally unscrewed one of the valve cap thingies on the left side, because I didn't know what it did. And my friend's all, "That's the AC!", so I put it back on after not even a second. Would that have anything to do with it? :p

I was just seeing if anyone has had this problem before, because there's probably a big chance it's happened to one of you 420a owners also. But, I might just break down and go to a dealership if I can't figure it out.

Does it only squeak with the A/C on, or does it squeak when it's off also? Saying it squeaks sometimes when you turn makes me think that it might be the the power steering pump. They squeak terrible when they start to go bad. The cap you removed from the A/C covers a shrader(sp) valve that's used to charge the system and removing it won't hurt a thing. I'd try tightening the belt first, but if that doesn't fix it I'd look at the power steering pump.
