Hey fellow DSM'ers

To make a long story short my friend has a 93 tsi fwd with a recent jdm engine , he bought a boost controller and put it on he has all the freemods anyway he put it on without a BOOSTGAUGE i told him not to do it (he wouldnt listen) the car ran maybe for 5 days like a bat out of hell and then this weekend he raced a mustang GT beat it by 3 car lenghts as he let of the gas in 3rd gear he blew his turbo , the thing is we put on a new turbo today the car barely stays on the sparkplugs are soaked in oil there was alot of oil in the intercooler we cleaned it there are traces of oil in most hoses even in the throttle body elbow........what can it be fried piston rings ?????? HELP asap

:dsm: :talon:

oil in intercooler is from the blown turbo.... oily plugs is rings.... do a compression test. you should have already done that, get all the readings, and if they are low, put a little oil in each spark plug hole, and re-do the compression test, and if compression raises, the cylinders it raised on have bad rings. if however, the oil does nothing.....it might be the hg.

Thanx man , I shall do a compression test tomorrow , then its all up to my friend thanx once again

Expect at least one burned piston.

OK we took the head off today and found out that all pistons were fried , We checked the turbo for any shaft play or any disfunctionality what so ever , but we have no shaft play the question is would that turbo still be blown with no shaft play..........

yes, a turbo can be blown without shaft play. I just recently has this problem with my tre big 16g. had practically no shaft play but if i let the car run for 10 mins idle, i would begin to see oil pouring out the inlet. i was gonna get rebuild but found out my turbine housing (exhaust side) was cracked too much for it to be worth repairing. make sure you check your oil feed/drain lines and your water pipes for clogging. but before making any conclusions, did your turbo have oil in the inlet (from intake)?

it had oil in the intercooler , but none in the inlet prolly cuz it blew the oil to the ntercooler instead of the inlet ?

well, i know for a fact it can do both, cause when my old b16g blew, it had tons of oil in the intercooler pipes and intercooler, but i also watched it slowly leak forwards toward the inlet from the wheel also. perhaps it could be a condition of just exhaust leak of turbo side. idk im not familiar with all the seals in a turbo and am not the person to get into detail with it.

Gotcha , yeah same here not familiar with the seals but the reason why im checkin here if its shot bad is that it was a hell of a turbo for a 14b came of a jdm but hell i got a couple layin around one will be my friends replacement we just finished putting in new pistons since he ran with no boost gauge he fried them all ........LOL

forgot to ask today when i let my friend drive my car as he shifted into second a little cloud of white smoke shot out could it be due to me running rich
