Sorry for the newby question but I couldn't find the answere on my own.
My car is now exhausting black sooty exhaust (idling or otherwise).
It has been burning oil without leaking (I've taken to dealer to fix, they replaced head gasket, and is still going thru oil same as before)
From my searches I've determined that the problem may be
1)running too rich?= CPU no good?
2) valve seals leaking oil eventually killed my CAT converter?
I don't really know, would like any help.
car is 1997 eclipse RS 420a engine

how many miles on engine?if ur buring oil its valve seals or piston rings r bad.
