i'm logging .96v on my logger on a 3rd gear pull at 13psi with a b16g, 190lph and 550cc.

I've done some searching but can't really find a lot. Figured i would ask you guys.

I only ask becuase my car has been backfiring in 2nd gear and above at about 4,500 -5,000rpm and above. Its usually just one big backfire then power resumes then if i hold again becuase i'm mad becuase it backfired it will do it again a couple seconds later. i don't know what the 02 were with no injectors or pump. but it did backfire.

Is .96v enough to make a rich condition and backfire. The backfire started when i installed my big16g. i thought it was fuel cut(never knew what it felt like just assumed). So i bought 550cc, 190lph, and safcII, installed both pump and injectors went for a ride and it did it again. I installed the SafcII, but i'm little scared to mess with it becuase i don't want to mess anything up more. i got on it one time in 2nd real hard backfired, bucked and the check engine light came on. It said, turbo wastegate selonoid malfunction. that has happened twice over the course of 2 weeks. I have a mbc hooked up to 13 pounds. i bought new ngk bpr7es plugs and magnacore 8.5 wires, did a leak test found a leak out of the lower intercooler pipe fixed it. Still backfires. I'm going to do a ignition coil test tommorrow, and power transitor test, also maybe i'll try to find a new crank angle sensor. I have a 6 bolt head, intake, and tb on a rebuilt 7 bolt block. ummmm yahh so if you guys have anything else to add or yell at me for please do it. becuease kids in my town want to race and i don't want to dissappoint all of my push rod engine owning friends

remember every stock sensor will differ, and every car will differ, but i would also say .96 is a little rich, but thats compared to my car...

I would look more at timing than O2. The stock O2 sensor isn't necessarily reliable. Mine reads .89 when I'm running way rich. It should probably read more like yours, but they all seem to differ.

i kno im jacking this thread but we are talking about somewhat similar stuff. what if my datalogger is not picking ltft but it is picking up stft? is that a problem?

alright so i drop the voltage down to .92 to .94 sometimes and its awesome. there is no more bucking hestation or anything. thanks guys,

The O2 sensor voltage should only be used as a generalized guideline when tuning. Honestly, I don't even bother logging that when I make a pull. I would rather pick up some extra samples / second on the other parameters. Shooting for a particular voltage on the stock, narrowband O2 is much different than shooting for a specific AFR on a WBO2.

I would look at timing, airflow and rpm when making a pull and adjust your SAFC and boost based on those numbers. If you post a 3rd gear pull we can point you in the right direction. :thumb:

BINGO! Never tune off a narrow band. I wouldn't even tune off of timing, airflow and rpm, but ever tuner has his flavor. Personally I go off a WB02, EGT (sometimes H20 temp as well), and knock.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, you 1g guys are so lucky getting to log knock. :p

All us 2g, SAFC guys can do is use our timing curves.
