Just got a used '90 Talon TSi AWD. It's had cold-start issues since I got it. After it runs for a couple minutes it's great. So I got a datalogger and started checking things.
[EDIT, see below for continuance, I was checking the wrong sensor on the first run through]

OK, things are a little stranger now. I checked the cold resistance across the sensor on the t-stat housing, and it measured about 2.2K Ohms. Seems what I would expect. Checked the connectors and for continuity from the sockets to the wires about 6" up the cable, OK.
With the sensor disconnected it's slowly going below 28F, that's good, but when I short it, it only goes up to about 160F ????

Problem turned out to be the ECU, the caps leaked and dissolved some traces, I repaired the damage and now it's working fine.
