Hi, I have a 97 eclipse n/a and some how my check engine light is always on because of the Evape Valve...... I was told that it does not do anyting for the car...... So i was wondering if there is a way to turn off the check engine light perminantly? Its really annoying looking at it all the time.... thx alot

Well I suppose you could remove the bulb or cut the wire to it or put tape over it :D , but of course if you don't fix the current problem you'll never know when a real engine damaging CEL is present. When you say Evape Valve do you mean evaporative emission purge solenoid, or evaporative emission ventilation solenoid, or what?

So how exactly can u do it? like is there a write up for it?

There is no fuse i can unplug to make it go away?

There's no fuse or write-up I know of to make the CEL go off for your problem. What is the CEL code (Checker and some auto stores have readers to tell you for free)? I would have to know it to see if it's even possible to hotwire a bypass fix to eliminate the CEL for that condition. If you don't care about any CEL's (not a good idea), remove the bulb, put tape over or pm me and I'll tell you what wire to cut.

Oh yeah...that sounds like a good idea. No, you should really find out what is wrong with the car. Like that car care commercial " spend a little more now, or spend alot later."
