ok I was driving a bit hard on the freeway (got up to about 120 and then went back down) and kept a constant speed of about.. 85-90. when I floored it the car would jerk, but it wouldnt go any faster, so I backed off a lil more. thought I heard an engine tick but oil pressure gauge was fine. all of a sudden a whining noise and my car jerks and I can hear stuff falling out from under, the person following me said there was a gigantic cloud of black smoke. I pull off to the side of the road, my car dies, and when I turn the key nothing happens, just a horrible burning electric smell. Theres oil dumping all over the freeway, and it doesnt look like its coming from my oil pan or anything, more to the passenger side of it. I open the hood, steam comes pouring out, and my turbo is glowing red hot (I have a brand new T28 thats been in there less than 2 months) everything is just way overheated.. and right before the car died the ticking got super loud. what has happened to my GSX? please help me asap.. she gets to sit in my garage until I find out :(

sounds to me like there was knocking from your bottom end and you you threw a connecting rod. look for holes in the block...it should be rather large. when i blew up my tercel's engine (intentionaly) LOL....it did exactly what you said minus the turbo... and the hole in the block was about the size of my fist. sorry man, good luck though

Something really similar to this happened in my friengs AWD. We were going like 90ish and then started to decelerate and BAM a loud ass noise, and smoke everywhere. We pulled over and oil was everywhere. Come to find out, his oil filter blew out where it connects to the filter housing, which caused there to be no oil in the car, which caused his bearings on his crank to go bye bye and burned holes in his pistons, valves all slapped the pistons, bent all the valves, and other stuff. Wasnt a good situation.

But hopefully you didnt have half of this stuff happen. I would say you probably threw a rod like everyone else has said. I would also check your oil filter really well and make sure that everything in there is ok.

Good luck man!
