car being to rich?

one of my buddies who has a92 tsi he was behind me and i floored it and the next day he said it smelt really bad, and he said i am running rich, what does that mean, maybe casue i have a vented BOV??? how do i fix it,what could be the problem,he said the smoke was like whiteish/greyish???

Why exactly do you have a vented BOV? Let me guess, car came that way when you got it, right?

Smoke from rich running car is black. Check the plugs if youre that worried about it.

If it is inbetween shifting then its your blow-off valve, if its not then its probably a bad O2 sensor. It will not do any serious damage to your vehicle running rich, but it can cause some nice exhaust damage if you get backfire because of it..like I do.

You need to get a recirculation kit for your blow-off valve if this is what is causing it, if its the blitz bov that doesn't have a kit for it, then you can do the ghetto mod and put the silencer on the bov, cut the silencer filter off, attach a hose of some kind to it, and hook it back into the intake.

Why does venting make you run rich you ask? Its because when your bov goes off the computer unit in your car expects the air released from the bov to go back into the intake, expecting this air the ECU releases more fuel to match the returned air, when the air from the BOV is not returned the ECU has released more fuel than air..hence a RICH mixture.

Venting does NOT affect racing performance just as long as you hold the gas as you are shifting. I still RECOMMEND you recirculate.

thanks for the info, yes the blitz BOV was on their when i bought it but i just bought a new intake,greddy type S BOV and ic pipes so i will be recirculating, i have an a/t so i dont think the holding between shifts would casue it, yeah its probaly the front o2 sesnor i got 76k and its never been chnaged i';ll do that o and my plugs/wires are brand new
