K, I searched long and hard for a fix for my seat creak, but to no avail, so I'll actually ask. I have a 95 GSX (and am in love with it) - but the dang drivers seat makes this aweful creaking noise everytime i lean back alittle when sitting in it, or lean forward alittle - i can almost hear it over the BOV when im gunning it even! Its driving me up the wall, I just fixed the window rattle (thx for that writeup! kickass I used the Great Foam too - perfection - doors are like one solid peice) - now i'd like to tackle the seat creak - I was thinking of spraying WD40 or some kind of super-lube up there, but the only stuff I could find around the house was EXTREMELY flammable and Im a smoker....what if i drop my cig under the seat by accident (its happened b4) - will my seat and me sitting in it go up in flames? Any suggestions? Thanks for the help dudes/dudettes - this is the best forum - dsm's own all

I would find the source first, then work from there. If the seat track is loose, it could squeak. I had a Ranger with a broken seat back. It made a similar noise, and was caused by the metal in the seat frame flexing and rubbing. The only cure in that case is to pull the seat back material off, then peel the foam off as well. Find the crack in the seat frame, clean it liberally with a steel brush and spend 5 minutes welding it back together. When reassembling, flip the seat back cloth inside out and start at the headrest, working the seat back down and slowly right side out. You may need to pull the frame off the seat bottom, which is pretty easy and makes the fabric easier to access. :thumb:

My passenger seat was driving me nuts with an annoying squeak (only when nobody is sitting in it). Checked all the bolts, but I isolated it to the fork and rail contacts - just greased the entire rail. Hope this saves someone some time.

Pull the seat out, get it where you can really look it over and make sure it's not from a frame crack or the like.
And no, you don't have to worry about the lube catching fire. You wanted to quit smoking anyway.
