Got my 95 tsi awd about 3 months ago. It had mods done to it already including a 3in back, uicp, k&n, apexi bov, 14b turbo etc. Well I can't put the gas pedal to the floor w/o the boost going past 20 lbs! I have to drive it daily so I drive her good but is this problem caused by the 3in back? Thats what some good friends told me. Another buddy told me an SAFC could fix my problem. Btw, there is NOT a mbc on my car. I took it up to my local auto zone and pulled a couple check engine codes. One was the knock sensor(bank one), one o2 sensor and a couple emissions. Would the knock sensor have anything to do with this? Anyways, took her to the track and wasn't too happy, seeing how I can't "punch" it. 15.3 at 94.4 mph with a 60 ft time of 2.05. Got home and a week later at 10 lbs of boost it doesn't feel right and so on, it hesitates and now I'm starting to see black smoke comming out of my N1! Please help if you know anything, I know I have to replace my o2 but what could cause the "hesitating"? Sorry about the essay but this is pissin' me off. Thanks for the space...

Not being able to get less than 20psi is probably just the vacuum hose being off of the wastegate actuator. Or having a crack in the hose. It has nothing to do with any sensors or needing an SAFC. You were getting as much boost as the turbo could put out. If you hit 20+ very often, the black smoke and running bad is probably from damaging something internally.

I would have to agree that your problem may be caused by missing vaccum lines on the wastegate solenoid. A 3 inch exhaust could make the turbo spool a higher boost pressure, the smoking is a lack of tuning and its probably leaning out and destroying your motor, your car thinks its running 14 psi after all. I would invest in a cheap manual boost controler and an afc that could keep your boost level more steady and the afc will help with tuning and fuel cut issues. An afc will not fix your overboosting issues tell your friend I'm sorry. :thumb: :dsm:

Thanks for the input, not quite what I wanted to hear but thanks a lot. I already tried to hook up a mbc and it did nothing and yes it was hooked up right...

Well, if you checked all your lines, and tried new boost controllers, or a new BCS, you could try taking the vaccuum line and just hooking it straight from the compressor to the wastegate till you get a new controller. This would allow you to run at whatever boost the wastegate is set at...I believe its like 8 psi stock. If this still doesn't help you, I would guess your wastgate is stuck closed, so your turbo will constantly build boost more and more. Also, I thought black smoke was burning too much fuel, not damaging something internally.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try hooking up the vacuum line to get it down to 8 lbs. I too thought that black smoke meant too much fuel, but I probably wasn't specific enough, this black smoke only comes around after 11 or so pounds. Anyways, you guys are the shit, thanks for all the help and space.
