I've been busy as hell the past month, and have no time to do an oil change. So, i take my car to the local 76 to get it done real quick before i go to work. They usually do a good job and it only cost $15 with my own oil and filter. So, i get my car and go to work and have no problems. Then i get off of work and head over to my other job, and start to notice a burnt oil smell but i figure its just another car around me. I get to my other job and i see smoke coming out from under the hood. I pop the hood and low and behold the feckin oil cap is sittin' there on my valve cover, and theres oil all over my engine!!!! Damn 76!!! I lost about a quart of oil so i added more. I check my dipstick this morning to make sure everything is all gravy, and i cant get a proper reading on it. Theres oil all the way up the stick. Will the oil in the dipstick tube descend back into the engine eventually or do i have a bigger problem that i gotta deal with? Oh yah, the car runs a lil sluggish now. Plz help!!

did you overfill your oil? did you check the oil level with the car running? check it with the car off and see what you find.

if its still too full, drain some out.

Drain it all out and start over, man that really sucks. The only thing they have to do is a simple oil change and they cant even get that right! Good luck, and I doubt you did any damage, the oil burning smell was probably oil burning that spilled onto the turbo.

Naw. I didn't over fill and yah i checked the oil when the car was off.

Yah, i gotta find some time to redo it myself, but ill probably just take it down to SpeeDee and pay $30. Thanx

$15 minus oil+filter?

Walmart my friend.. Basic oil change is 15.99 using there oil... Get some better oil off them for a lil bit more expensive, still probably paying $10-$15 less an oil change..

Naw. $15 just for the labor. I bring my own oil and filter. Mobil 1 and the stock oil filter.

Midas put gear oil in my aunts engine when she took her camaro in for an oil change. She got a new motor out of it but it was a pain in the ass and took about 3 months total before she had her car back.

Right there is the exact reason Id rather just do it myself. Even if youre pressed for time I would think you could spare 30 mins (or less) to do it yourself at some point. At least to me that time is worth not worrying if some moron forgot to torque a bolt tight enough or actually put oil caps back on.

I agree with sphillips91, love your car and take care of it yourself. Plus, 15 bucks just for labor is a lil pricy when it will only take you 20 minutes. I dont' like having mechanic drive my car, not to mention my car can't make it up over all the stuff on the floor of any oil change place...damn eibach springs :D
