I've noticed lately that if I accelerate heavily for a sustained period of time, boosting about 14psi on my stock 14b and fuel system, that after I slow the rpms down I get quite a bit of oil smoke out my exhaust, and I can smell oil smoke in the cabin. My car has 87k miles on the stock 6bolt and turbo. Now I'm reasonably sure that it's the turbo that's blowing oil and causing it to smoke, but I don't see any external signs on the turbo housing itself of bad oil seals. I just want to make sure that it's the turbo before I order a replacement, install it, and find out that it's really some engine seal and have to tear it apart and rebuild it.

Any input?

It sure sounds like the seal inside the turbo that are supposed to keep the oil in the turbo from getting into the exhaust are failing, it's a friction item),but could also be worn piston rings allowing oil into the combustion chamber--a compresion check would tell you.

Compression was checked about 2 months ago and was 160 on all 4, so doubt it's that. Hopefully it is the turbo, cuz I just ordered an evo 16g. :)
