ok so i find out my timing belt went and bent my valves and blah blah blah...so anyways i just need to get it running again. I'm gonna go after just a stock rebuild kit from slowboy. Is that all I need? I also figure I need new valves and valve springs...ARP studs! I dont really know, ne one that has gone through this....lemme know what to do

Well you will need rebuild the head at least, Since you need you valves you may as well freshen everything else like the valvesprings retainers, valve stem seals all that stuff.

Gonna have to take the head to the machine shop and let them rebuild it for you. Sometimes when the valves bend the guides crack as well so dont be suprised if they tell you you need new valve guides. Other than that you will need new t-blet, balance shaft belt, water pump, head gasket, intake and exhaust mani gaskets and a few others. I recommend also that you get new head bolts and be sure to check out the pistons while you have the head off.

mine just went the other day too bro... I feel for ya! It sucks... trying to decide whether to have the shop try to do the work for at least 2200 dollars... or to bring the car home and set er in the garage and wait till i can buy a rebuilt engine off ebay... or sell it and find a new car... :-/

Dont mean to hi-jack the thread but i was wondering if timing belts just snap with out any signs of wear? Like can a new timing belt go out just as easily as an old one? What are the other causes of this other than normal wear and balanceshaft belt hitting it??
