Hey all,

I have a '93 Talon TSI with 42k miles, all stock mostly, and I have been trying to troubleshoot the problem:

1) It has a nice kick and seems to build power at partial throttle although it does stumble a bit when transitioning into boost. The problem is when I go WOT the car just has no power especially when the RPMs hit 5k+. The RPMs themselves move as normal but the car just has no go and it doesn't even peg the dummy boost guage. It peaks and then holds in between the 7 and 14 like it isn't getting full boost.

2)I am only getting 16mpg in the city. This thing is worse than my stealth on gas.

Here are some things I have replaced in hopes of eliminating the problem:

-fuel filter
-NGK plugs and Magnecore wires
-Fixed exhaust leaks with new ex. manifold
-fixed intake leaks
-New K&N filter
-new o2 sensor & ground strap

My datalogs show nothing out of the ordinary. Trims are fine, o2s fluctuate fine, no knock no timing retard, nothing. The only things I can think of are either the fuel pump or a slipping clutch??? But if it were the fuel pump wouldn't I run lean and knock?

What do you all think?

by any chance do you have a mod list i could take a look at?? sometimes that helps some. how much boost are u running? and yes it could be a slipping clutch...when my stocker was going the car just had this really slow feeling up top.

Thanks for the help. Yeah I would suspect the clutch....but the RPMS don't shoot up like it is slipping. I also think it is the fuel pump....but it doesn't go lean at WOT. I am really confused.

The only mod on the car is a 2G ex. manny and a K&N open element. Boost is at stock level (But doesn't peg the dummy boost guage).

im starting to wonder if your cat. converter is giving you this problem...

just a little suggestion even though i would suspect you already know this...i would invest in some gauges to keep an eye on things. especially a boost gauge.

So it could possibly be a clogged cat? All the more reason to get a test pipe!! I'll give it a shot since that is pretty cheap. It might also explain my bad gas mileage too?

Next on the list are autometer boost and fuel level guages w/ new sender to replace the POS stock unit.
