ok ive searched high and low, but i can find a f***ing caliper support or bracket or whatever its called all 4 of mine are rusted to crap and i need some new ones... anyone know where i can find some?

thanks
Josh

the big bracket that the caliper attaches to, the thing that sits behind the rotor... sorry im really brake system retarded:rolleyes:

The caliper bracket is what bolts to the spindle.
The caliper rides on pins in the caliper bracket.
The big round thing behind the rotor is the dust shield, it is bolted to the spindle and the caliper bracket bolts through it.

I can't imagine the caliper brackets being rusted beyond use and the calipers still being good. Are you thinking about the dust shields? They rust out all the time.

Steve

yeah its the dust shield then, but i swear my entire braking system is rusitng; rotors, calipers, dust shield, you name it, its probably rusted, and its getting on my new rims and im kinda gettin pissed. so yeah where can i get these dust shields you speak of?

It all rusts.

I can give you the part numbers for new parts but I need to know your build date and if you have ABS or you could just go with the ones they used with the factory big brakes. New the shields are about $16 each for the front and $11 each for the rear

For used you can try mitsubishi graveyard in the sponsors section above.

Changing them is a real PITA. You have to pull the wheel hubs off to get access. You can live without them and most people do once they rust away since replacing them is a huge job.

The best time to replace them is when you replace the wheel bearings since you have everything apart anyway.

Steve

damnit i just had the wheel bearings done too... but i gotta rip it all apart anyways because my entire braking system is f***ed. i got a 92 AWD built in 3/92 so its still the 6 bolt block with the tiny brakes, but i got the stock big brake upgrade and i dont have ABS
