Gas door broke? [Merged 3-11] fuel spring flap stuck
Alright, I was pumping gas as usual, and when I was done I shut the gas door(apparently a little too hard) and it went in further than normal, but still locked and stuff. However, now when I use the lever in the car to open it, it doesn't open by itself, you have to have someone pushing on it while you pull the lever to get it to open. I haven't looked in there to try and find exactly what broke, but I was just seeing if this has happened to anyone else and what you did to fix it.
TIA,
Shannon

It has never happened to me, but it could be the catch or the metal spring that is bent.

Yeah, it happened to me when i borrowed my girlfriends tercel for the day, gassing it up, heard something hit the ground when i closed the door but thought nothing of it, about to drive away, use my better judjement and find the stupid little clip on the ground. Had to strech like a mo fo just to push the hatch open with my fingers while pulling the lever.
Its that stupid little clip, sounds broken to me. i think being bent would still make it kind of work, or jam even worse. either way, cheap fix.

There's a kind of "S" shaped piece of black spring steel clipped onto the door hinge that often takes leave of the vehicle. Junkyard.

Enough light, I'll bet. Not like under a sheet.
I bet you could just find a spring at the hardware store that'd work as well.

What the hell, something wrong with the passenger door? The flap's on her side, it's her job.

I had the same thing happen to me, but the spring didn't break, I just bent the hell outta it and now it pops out almost halfway open every time I pull the lever.
