Rochester,
I smelled the oil on my dip stick, and sure enough it smells like gas! I just changed the PCV valve hoping that will cure it. I have also noticed an acceleration loss, especially in second gear. Any ideas as to what is causing these factors.......any suggestions help. thnx

If you have gas in there you may have flodded the engine. Change your oil ASAP!! you may have blowby due to bad rings. The best you can do is change the oil and take it to a mech to check it out.

Absolutely!!! There are only so many reasons why this can happen flooding can cause it but blowby is a common culprate. When going to the mechanic have him do a compression and leakdown check on the motor. This will determine if there is an internal problem like rings...

Hope all works out...

Or, you have a boost leak and your car is running extra rich. Too much unburnt fuel will make the oil smell like gasoline. A boost leak would explain the power loss too.

Well the only problem is I dont have the money to go to a mechanic right now. I will change the oil though ASAP. My car was in the shop about a month and a half ago because all of my belts flew off (splash shield was missing which caused that). When the Tech started my car he got out and closed the door to brush off the snow. Well he ended up locking my keys in the car while it was running with NO coolant running through it! They called me to get a 2nd set of keys, so they sent a shuttle to me to get them. My car was running with out coolant for about 20 mins. My best guess is that they blew my head gasket, because it seems as if the compression is low (which would explain the power loss) and my buddy said i might have gas in my oil if my head gasket were blown because the gas can seep into oil lines. Let me know what u think please, Im trying to figure it out with out spending 80$ to just diagnose it.
