Got my intake manifold off, need advise now

Will the 92-94 metal intake gasket fit my 90 tsi? And should I try to clean all the oil,carbon build up on the motor side of the intake, if so how and what do I use that wont hurt the piston,rings etc....(if any runs down into it)
Any advise on porting/polishing anything while its off.

All 1G Intake Manifolds gaskets should be the same. Its the 2G that have smaller ports/smaller gasket. When I had my intake manifold off I used a pressure washer, nothing else seemed to get the crud out. Oh ya and lotsa engine degreaser!

Wipe the intake ports out with rags and solvent. Then plug the intake ports with shop rags and use a couple cans of brake cleaner on the grease and grime. Once the grime runs down off the head on to the block, wash it off with water and mild detergent (if needed).

Will it hurt anything if water gets into the ports/manifold itself, I was thinking about taking it to the car wash power sprayer and just spraying the crud out of it. Would this be ok if I let it dry real good after.

Your good to go just make sure its dry when ya put it back on Car wash is perfect!
