i was in an accident a little while back involving a deer. There was a good bit of damage to the exterior and some suspenion but from what i could see nothing wrong with the motor at all. Nothing leaking underneath and nothing seemed to be damaged inside the engine bay. After the exterior and some suspenion was finally finished i have had the car up and running for about a month now. When i start it up it does the normal thing is usually did before the accident with that idle. Till it warmed up it would rev up to about 1500-1800 and back down to 800-1000 because of the 264-272 cam setup. Even after i have let the car warm up and then drive it for up to a half hour to 45 mins it sometimes will still do it. I notice this while I'm at traffic lights and put it in neutral it will still be doing it, and say if im driving it for half hour to 45 mins and shut it off and let the turbo timer run for a little bit it will still do it. I havent driven it farther then about a 45 min trip since the accident. I really have no idea why it would still be idling like that after its warmed up, it didnt do that before the accident at all, after about 5-10 mins running before the accident it would idle find. I'll try disconnecting the negavtive battery cable today to see if that helps at all, with resetting the computer. Sorry for the long explanation, but im trying to throw everything out there so it might be easier to figure out whats wrong. If you guys could throw some ideas at me, anything could help, thanks a lot.

Do you have a vaccum/boost guage hooked up? Perhaps there's a vaccum leak and the car is stumbling to keep it going. If you have a multimeter, check the battery voltage with the car off (~12.2V) and then with the car on (~13.5V). Maybe the alternator wire from the alternator became disconnected and there isn't enough juice to run everything.

Just a thought.

Yes i do have a boost/vaccum gauge and I checked a lot of vaccum leaks, i couldnt find any before, but ill go over it again. I dont have a multimeter but ill try and find one, thans for that idea. Alternator are kind of expensive but maybe if im lucky the alternator could be on its last leg and the car just doesnt have enough power to run everything properly and its stuggling. Thanks for the ideas man, ill check them out, later.
