i was working on my car when a positive wire touched my valve cover. i used my OBD II scanner and got a PO 505 error code (idle control malfuction). please help what is the problem? dealer wants $98 to "reset the idle." now it idles at 2000rpm, then warms up and bouces @ 1500-1900rpm.

some ideas
*idle control valve
*idle control sensor
*idle control motor
*computer (still knows all operation data and comunicates fine)

one more problem the temp guage on dash cluster went out at the same time?

PLZ HELP!

Just buy a 1g throttle body. That would take care of those 3 things that might be wrong, well... let me take it back, it IS one of those 3 things, I bet you money.

do u think that the problem could be in the ECU which controls the idle control motor? i already started looking on ebay and this site for a 1G tb, thx that was a good idea!

Take out your ECU, and look at it very closely, strain your eyes. Look around the capacitors and see if there is any kind of leakage. Look for any foul play!

where is the 2G ECU? u are talking about any melts, or miss conections on the board?

It's probably in the same spot that 1g's are in, which is behind the radio. Find a way to get behind there, you might have to take your capet back to get to it. There are like 3 wire clips going in the back, and it is a gold box.

does this sound right i found it in one of my other threds...

You can fix your idle by adjusting the BISS screw, located ontop of your throttle body. Screwing it clockwise lowers the idle, counter-clockwise raises the idle.

Your engine temp sensor could be shot. try replacing it. It's located around the thermostat.

would that fix a idle it is was steddy and not surging or boucing 1500-1900rpms?

I would just buy a throttle body. Find a used one somewhere like in a junkyard or something. When I had a bad one, for the time being I just disconnected it, and idled it down.

Dude,
the problem is your ISC being disconnected or more than likely
the windings are bad. The ISC has the 6 pin square electrical connector
on the bottom of your throttle body. A bad ISC will cause surging
and I bet if you ohm it out (as in the manual) you will find its bad.

kewl i think your right, i got a 2g tb off ebay for $27 so that is what is going on right now
thx
