Fuel Line HELP

I was going to change the fuel filter and the fitting on the fuel line has lock tight on it.I used a line wrench and I rounded off the whole nut! I was wondering if I took the fuel line off another car and cut it at the passenger side door ,and put a union in them to splice them together if they would hold(not leak).I can not get a break with this car.Thaks For All The Help!!!
