I just saved a fairly clean 1994 Talon from the scrapper that needed a rear main seal, but the PO drove it around all the time somewhere between overfilled with 50 weight oil or damn near empty.
So instead of messing around with this seal just to have an engine that knocks like hell, I'm just going to drop a new 1.8 in it (maybe I'll do a swap on it someday, but for now, I just need it to move under its own power.).
To the point: I'm looking for a low mileage (low mileage for a 15 year old car) 4g37 (yes, 37) that will drop in and run. Craigslist has a 78k mile 37 for $300, but my friends that build these DSMs insist that $300 is too high, even for a really good one (make sense: it's a swap-victim throwaway engine).
I'm in Portland, but I'll drive a ways to pick it up. Thanks.
