Because we went through six kinds of hell a few years ago from a few smartasses who though it was cool to wrestle with the site rules. Consequently, the signatures were cut down to text-only.

A few violate, the community pays. Welcome to freedom.

Why not allow the community to use image in signatures with certain restraints (400x150 max of 100kb image file) If they disobey, you have a ban button

I personally find it really hard to read forums where people have image(s), lots of text, and links galore for their signatures. I really like how this one is set up to keep them limited.

Why not just reconfigure the signature into something that would work for avatar?
