I've been looking for a similar thread all day but haven't found anything.
I REALLY NEED HELP BECAUSE I'M REALLY DUMB.
so i was driving home from NWBUILT meet sunday night down 167 and when i started my car i noticed the lights were dim, the radio restarted and it hesitated to turn over.
When i got on the freeway i noticed that even when i turned on my blinkers, i would lose power in my engine, which i'm guessing was because i was not getting any spark in the engine.
THEN, all of a sudden, my car died and i had to pull off onto the LEFT side of the road.
Some guy in a corrado TURNED AROUND on the freeway to help me, (i met him at the meet i just came from) and he tried to give me a jump... nothing.
so i said thanks and let him go home.
my dad picked me up on the flat bed and i charged my battery when i got home. The next day i wanted to test what my battery was at during idle. when the car was off (after i charged it the night before) it was at 12V.
When i started it, it jumped down to 9V and when it was idling it went back to 11.9V. i revved it a little bit but it didn't go any higher.

I just put in a new alternator and bought a new battery about a month ago. when i first put the alternator on it worked fine BUT, one night i heard some sparks and my headlights BLEW UP!!?!? and the bolt on the alternator that the two white wires are attached to was burnt up. so i'm guessing the sparks where from that and somehow made my headlights blow.
after that i took the alternator to oreillys and they said it was still good.
^^^^^THIS IS WHERE MY PROBLEM STARTED^^^^^^^^^^
so i dont know what to do. the fuse is good, i think the wiring is good. i noticed the bolt that you attach the two white wires to the alternator on was a little burnt (probably from sparks) so i put on some washers so i knew it had a good connection.
BUT I WANT TO FIX THIS!

i've been just charging my battery at night and driving straight to school and back but it's getting old. please help me out..
