Ok, so i did my first clutch job on my 98 gsx (hated it the whole time) and after two days of getting mad and throwing wrenches and alot of select words, i finished it up...i thought. The clutch pedal is now really soft (i bled it and everything) and is slow on the release, and to top it all off, my car now will not start...i think something might have happened with the starter i.e. a wire disconnected somehow, but, when i turn my key it sounds like it tries to engage and doesnt....any ideas? should i just tear it all apart and redo everything?

And if your read this and are anywhere near seattle/federal way please please PLEASE come help me...ill supply the beer.

Check if the slave cylinder is ok also check the master clutch cylinder. Check for leaks and fluid level. Try to bleed it again. Also did the clutch you use came with a recomendation for a slave extension rod?

As for the starting check all the grounds, check for loose connections, the starter wire could be loose, connect the voltmeter to the starter and see how many volts go to it. Check the starter realy, clutch position switch, ignition switch, even the battery (you never know)

The clutch didnt come with any recommendations at all. It was a brand new stock replacement clutch from napa that included the clutch disc, pressure plate and (i think its called) the throwout bearing. There are no leaks that i can find at all. I'm going back under the hood tomorrow to inspect the starter and make sure that i have everything connected as it is supposed to be/look for a disconnected wire and whatnot.

I didn't shim the pivot ball and make sure the the fork was towards the drivers side or in the middle when i put the tranny back on or adjust the clutch rod either so im going to look into that as well.

I have the clutch position switch disengaged so i dont have to push the clutch in when starting the car, but where is the starter relay?

replace the Fork and Pivot Ball or Shim it as much as possible for maximum adjustment. OEM TOB as well is best.
