Bought a 1990 TSI but weird starting

i picked up a blue 1990 talon TSI AWD with 93,000 her with all the paper work and the engine was just rebuild completly, and i bough it or 800 and my Xbox 360 could not pass it up, has over 6000 in paper work .. but i got a question


so the new rebuild engine has 13'000 on it and it has a hard ass time starting cold, if i pump the gas it start quickly, but if i don't it does not start worth a $hit really, and its funny because it should not help but it cut starting down to like 10 secs compared to 2 mins i leaning towards leaking injectors? or something idk i search and didn't really find anything use full.

Could possibly be the CTS (coolant temp. sensor). Do a search and see what you find.

When my 91 was still stock i had the same proplem, after i changed the injectors it fixed the hard starting.

hey thanx man ill have to look into that more, because its sucks trying to start your car after a hard day at work , everyone thinks its a peice

One thing that might help is to borrow a datalogger to doublecheck about the coolant sensor or any other codes. I had trouble with cold start. Turned out to be one of the coolant sensors.

Thanks, 1gHaaaaw (Robert) did the 1g Biss adjustment and it helped a lot right when grounded the ignition timing and then the ECU the idle went up too 1100 from (800) and then i adjusted the biss screw i put it at (75)0 and the idle oscillating stopped it stop when i was coming to a stop the surguing stopped and idle a lot more smoothly nothing wrong don't know if it help the cold start but one thing down 10 more to go
