my ECU

i think my ECU is ####ed it still work but it is hard to start when it is cold it takes like 5 to 10 trys to get it started the when i get it started it idles at 1500 and when i rev it up it will go down to 2000 and sit there for a sec then drop back down to 1500 and when the car is worm and i take it to 5000 it will act like it is getting fuels cut.here is a pic of my ECU the burn is not on the other side can any one fix it of dose any one have a 90 ECU?

looks like the surface mount capasitor is burn,t out .you should just find the value on that part and replace it . I have one with it replaced, I will check it out when I get home from work .I will let you know what can work in there .

have your ECU rebuilt before the damage increases due to acid on the board or check this website for ecu codes to see which one you will need, doesnt matter if it's FWD or AWD. Eclipse Talon Laser Galant 3000GT Stealth ECU ID Reference

4478A would be from a MD145903, 1990 Federal AWD.

Somebody did a half-xxx'ed job on that one. I'm sure that is the root cause of your starting and >5000RPM issues. Done correctly that ECU should work fine.

looks like more then just a cap. like stated i would send it in.

i might have a similar issue with my split second unit and i have similar motor issues.

mine is running super rich and it might have blown the motor. so i would stop running the car to prevent any further damage.

thanks for all the info i have to wait tell i get some money coming in i mite just get a new ECU i dont no yet i need to get my lower ball joint fixed and i really need a set of wheels and tires so if any one has a set and would like to trade somthing for them hit me up i dont care if thay are stocks or not.

91 ecu wont work in a 90.90s have to have a 90 ECU.thanks tho

I belive you can in fact use a 91 ecu in a 90 ...you just have to switch two wires around

It's a little more involved than that because of the tach.
