Getting transmission back from Jacks (9/2/08) - anyone lend a hand?

I'll be getting the transmission sometime Tuesday the 2nd, hopefully early. I plan on starting the install that evening.

I live in Lynnwood, a few minutes from Edmonds Community College.

I'll also be putting the cyl. head back on and drivers side wheel hub & A-arm.

TRANS BUILD -

Jacks Economy Build
+ Vr4 1st gear
+ 4 spider center diff

I should have everything we'll need.

Good luck... I just got my last part for mine to put it all back together. I know the position you're in right now. Looking forward to a good long day's work. Hope that GVR4 1st holds up for you. I'ver heard bad things. I actually thought Jack recommended against using them? I wish I would have put a 4-spider in mine though.

Yes, the Vr4 is a bit of a risk. But, I really don't run my car all that hard, so I figured it was all right. Jack gave me the deal of a life time on this build last year so I paid for it 9 months in advance.

I'll just have to address the 1st gear if I ever start drag racing. Until then I think I'll be OK. I spend most my time just enjoying the power from 10 to 80MPH. If you don't shock the drive train from a stand still the gear should hold just fine; assuming you don't have 400HP and all.

I couldn't pass up a true "upgrade feel" with a new transmission; an upgrade I'll feel when I put my foot in it; like a taller 1st gear.

Not when the price was right!

Knowing DSM's I'll have reason to pull the engine/trans again in a year or so anyway.

Speaking of... did you ever get your engine fixed after snapping your T Belt while heading over to W. Seattle?
