are you sure that its the head gasket? Alot of people get oil in the water from the oil cooler and not the HG.

Do you know of a easy fix??
I havent really looked this car over much.Is it in the radiator or is it seperate.

is there a simply to test for that?

i didnt realize that you have a first gen so it may be different, if it is the same as the second gen then there is a heat sink inside of the oil filter housing and if the filter is tightened down to hard then you can crack that aluminum heat sink. the easiest way to test it would be to take it apart and inspect it for cracks, maybe even pressure test it. You should do a couple searches and maybe make a post in the forums asking someone to fill you in on what a first gen is like since i dont have personal experience with anything but the 2nd gen dsms
