Meet for Bay Area DSM'er dates

Best date to meet, so we can also have the So Cal guys meet with us

Hey there everyone,
Well first of all, thank you to everyone that was able to make it out to our DSM meet that we recently had at Union Landing in Union City. As many of you might know or not know, we have a couple of people from the So Cal area coming up for a visit asking about going for a drive in any of our mountain roads so I was thinking along with TSiguy510 that this might be another golden opportunity to have another meet. Here are the dates that the guys from So Cal are coming up

December 28-29-30th

Now I know that seems like such a short notice to have a meet, but I figured that I would just put it out there that they are coming during these dates. In the midst of the holiday spirit, I figure we could all meet up and chill, making the cruise optional to those that would like to drive out and have some fun. So my guess is to have the meet at Union City once again because we had a pretty big turnout for DSM's the last time we did that. The date that would probably seem best to meet IMO is December 28th, seeing as it is a Sunday, which is when the last meet happened. Although if you guys think the other dates are better, let us know.

If you guys could chime in and pick the dates that would be good for all of you, that would be great. I've already checked the road conditions for some of the roads you guys suggested and most of them seem to have snow on them right now, including Mt. Hamilton and Highway 9 (This is what the San Jose S2K crew said). Calaveras seems to be okay to drive on right now, only thing is that there are no guardrails on that pass. Haven't been able to look up anything on Skaggs Springs or any of the SF/Berkeley passes, so if anyone has any ideas on how those roads fair in terms of weather, that would be cool.

So if you guys could let us know what dates you are free, that would be great. We should probably look into possibly having dinner as its pretty cold outside right now LOL, although we can make that optional. Unless you guys would like to have a daytime meet, I'm just assuming that the nighttime would be easier for everyone. In terms of the cruise, maybe for those that want to go, we could try to set that up more in the day/afternoon for safety reasons

We just don't want anyone coming that would start doing sideshows or bringing any unwanted attention to us (Especially from the cops)

I vote the 28th also. Gives enough time after Christmas and time before New Years.
 
wsup guys? any of these dates actually work for me. so i dont mind which day it is. as for calaveres, i actually went through it the other day around 6-7pm and man conditions were bad. roads did not have ice, however the surrounding area did so im guessing at some point the road had ice. there was tons and tons of fog as well. at times you could not see more than 2-3 feet in front of you. day time might be better if that is the road that is decided to go to.
 
Hey everyone, so I take it that the 28th is the day that everyone is good to meet then. You guys have a specific time that you want to meet on that day then. Afternoon or Evening? My guess is later afternoon to early evening. Let me know so I can let the guys from So Cal know. Thanks everyone and look forward to hearing from all of you.
 
Wish I could have made it last time. So I am gonna try really hard to make this one. I'm gonna be working on some chicks dsm in the morning/afternoon so if its sometime in the early-evening/evening I'm down, since I have quite a ways to drive in order to get to the meet.

It's all good Killa_DSM. Its understandable that some people wouldn't be able to make it seeing as we are all busy. I was actually thinking bout an evening meet since thats when we had our last meet, but I wanted to hammer out a time to make it easier on everyone that came. Our meet last time was scheduled aroun 7 PM, but our DSM guys started coming in towards 8 PM, so no worries about the time more than likely if evening if your preffered time.

If it rains, consider the meet cancelled in all honesty because I would like to assume that no one will probably want to stand around in the rain, let alone drive in it. Plus I wouldn't want the ones driving far to get to the meet to have to deal with the rain either. I looked into the weather and the weather looks like its gonna start to clear up right after Christmas anyways. I just hope it stays that way.

Might haul the gf in with her NT. I'm gettin her brother and his friend into DSM's:D They said they def wanna come so thats another dsm added to the list.

Well I hope you all had a great holiday this past Thursday. Now I know that I'm posting the details of the Union City meet a little late, but I've been swamped as of late because of the holiday season. Thank you all in advance for understanding. Now here we go everyone

Sunday = December 28th 2008

DSM meet for the Bay Area Norcal DSM'ers with special appearances by 2 of our So Cal members

Location : Krispy Kreme doughnut parking lot at Union Landing shopping center in Union City

Meet time will be at 7:00 PM

32450 Dyer St., Union City, CA, 94587

I'm guessing everyone knows how to get here, if not just lemme know and I'll make sure to post the full directions for everyone.

Here are some very vague directions. You are going to want to somehow get onto 880 South or 880 North depending where you are coming from (Unless you live in the areas of Union City or Hayward) and exit Whipple Rd. Make a left at the light onto Dyer St (This works for either side of the freeway you come from. Keep going straight. You'll see the Union Landing Shopping Center on your left hand side.. If you don't, just look for the Hollywood Video on your left and that's the center.

Anyone is welcome to attend regardless of what kind of car you drive (I personally would like to see lots of DSM's though both turbo as well as NA ones,) but if you have friends that drive other cars, feel free to invite them as well. All we ask is that you don't drive into the area recklessly or do anything that would bring unwanted attention to us. The last thing we need is cops coming to harass us, which would make it even harder to have a meet at all, also turning people away from coming to meet with us because they don't want to deal with drama.

So please no burnouts, unneccessary revving or anything of that nature while you are in the parking lot. This meet is so that we can all gather, talk about our cars and just enjoy ourselves.

Also since the meet time will be at 7 PM on a Sunday, if you somehow haven't eaten there are some good choices to eat within the area. There's Jollibee which is a Filipino fast food restaurant that serves Fried Chicken, burgers, Spaghetti, Pancit and other items. A 24 hr IHOP is on the other side of the parking lot. There is also a Japanese and Chinese restaurant in the parking lot. If you want burgers, there's a Fuddruckers near Starbucks (You can try a Ostrich burger there if you want) and In and Out on the other side of the center near Lowe's. If you would like to go to a sitdown spot, there's the Texas Roadhouse Steakhouse (famous for all the peanuts you can eat and you get to throw the shells on the floor and they make a pretty good steak as well) and also a TGI Fridays one light down. Also for those that bring their wives or girlfriends, there is a Baskin Robbins and Krispy Kreme to satisfy their sweet toothes if they have them. Also there's a Starbucks for all you coffee addicts .

There is a movie theater for those that want to watch a movie as well. Down the street about a light away is also I-Fly (An indoor skydiving place so you can experience skydiving without actually jumping out of a plane )

I'm just mentioning all these spots if you are hungry and or are trying to convince someone to come here. Especially if you plan on driving here from a different area. You can take them out to do something fun for both of you or your family, have dinner, and then come to the meet so that they can be happy and you can come hang out with us as well. Spending time with them and meeting with other DSM'ers FTW

Maybe someone going to the meet might have a 2g turbo coil pack and transistor that there willing to sale? I was trying to my car look nice to show off in the meet now my car broke. Someone please let me know if anyone has an extra on hand. Im down to meet up there. Now I can bring just pictures and show my DSM. :thumb:
 
Hey everyone,
Well the day of the meet is finally here. Unfortunately, I won't personally be able to make it because my trip to San Diego is running longer than I anticipated. Now for those of you that might maybe wonder why I tried to plan this meet on a weekend that I was going to be out of town, I found out about the trip after I had already set up the date for you all. I thought that I'd be able to make it back in time if we left here early enough. This was not the case as the people I came with decided to extend the trip longer and I'm stuck here without a car to come back in.

I hope that this won't deter any of you from still coming to the meet. I just wanted to let you all know that I wasn't going to be able to make it and I didn't want you all to think I flaked out.

I hope you all have a successful meet. Take care everyone and my apologies to all of you. I can't wait to see you all at another meet.
