It's been tossed around the shop between customers from time to time, "Who makes more power around here the EVO's or the DSM's?" I personally don't like how so many other car enthusiasts are so quick to call a DSM "SLOW P.O.S." So what do you guys think about having a EVO VS DSM 4G63/4G64 Dyno Challenge sometime in Feb. How many of you think your cars are up to the challenge? How many people like this Idea? Any people have ideas to make it more interesting?

I think the slow POS comments usually come from the domestic (ie V8 guys). As far as other import folks out there they know whats up unless they are noobs to the (I hate this term but it suits the situation) "tuner market".

I think DSMs are to imports as the grand national guys are to the v8 guys.....never under estimated.

On the subject of a DSM vs Evo dyno shootout.....it would be fun, as well as nice to see some friendly smack talking amongst the different layouts of 4G63 engine folks.

As far as the cars being up to the challenge....well thats a struggle in itself :sosad:

The Dyno Challenge would be at Full Function (FFTEC).

I'm down, but I hardly think my 16G would be much of a threat. Although, I think I could get some better numbers than on the first dyno day. :)

this definetly sounds like fun and february is a good date...Im in if it does happen. Would there be any tuning involved or just straight up dyno runs?

i think i'll be down for this sean. as long as i can get my car up and running again. plus the meth tune..gotta rep for the old school 4g63.

Personally even though I'm not involved I think tuning should be used to help extract that little more horsepower you didn't know you had. It's a dyno contest after all. If everyone can tune then it should be more helpful.

Well, this is a dyno challenge. It would be sweet to do some tuning sessions but we all know that tuning isn't as easy as it sounds, is time consuming. Sometimes the person who brings their car to the dyno has problems to begin with...all of the sudden hours have past and only a few cars had a chance to dyno and beats the point of having a dyno challenge. It just wouldn't be fair for those who just want to dyno, leave the tuning for another day. 1on1 session with the shop.

Is just like when someone spills oil all over the track, 1hour wait to clean up the mess :notgood: . I hate that, one hour of practice runs wasted..

Ill make sure to bring some popcorn for the guys/ladies that are not big enough to play in the big boy's playground yet :( And hopefully im not lonely

Look who came out of hiding :D I would tell you to hit me up but I broke my cell phone in the process of getting a *new* one.

Same sort of process that me and you are familiar with!? haha, i'm so damn busy with work, school, and trying to sell this damn car I don't have time for posting right now:cry: . Help me sell it so I can get a damn bike!

Sounds like fun, just had a few questions: Any word on a rough price for the dyno pulls? or how many slots will be available? I haven't checked yet, but do the NorCalEvo guys seem receptive to this too? I'll be down for it, unless its at the end of Feb (I'll be on vacation in Florida), but can't wait to hear more details. Seems like alot of the Evo guys around here forget we're part of the family sometimes:nono: .

that is the truth, some forget we've been messing with 4g63s since early 90s. former dsm owners still throw out references though. amusing to see 4g63 n00bs so afraid to do anything, even change their oil, and swear by a brand name LICP better than a no name brand one. :)

zach i saw your car for sale over on BARF, i use to frequent that place when I use to ride, good luck with the sale, i miss riding, one day again. what you planning to get?

also if this goes down, ill be there, to spectate, and root my dsm brothas, unless i manage to find a new job by then then ill join in to show off my 200AWHP on a 50 trim LOL.
