Does a PSI window switch for nitrous exist?

I have been unable to locate a window switch for a nitrous system that operates according to boost. My goal is to install about a 50 shot that operates only at WOT and when the boost is BELOW 15 psi. Then, once the boost reaches 15 psi, the nitrous cuts off.

Seems like a pretty simple thing that a lot of people would be looking for, so I'm surprised I can't find it. Does anyone know of one?

-Thanks

Yes, there is one. Not sure who makes it.

Wish I could be more helpful :coy:

DSMLink offers some nitrous controls, such as:

Activate above: x rpm
But below: x rpm
TPS above: x%
Speed above: x mph
Knock below: x degrees

Maybe someone else will have a less expensive solution.

That was still somewhat helpful. At least I know that if I continue to search for one, I'm not beating a dead horse.

Something that doesn't require DSMLink would be nice, but thanks for that info.

couldnt you use a hobbs switch set to a certain rpm to connect the circuit

i have one for my water injection system
at 8psi it clicks on the relay which activates the pump

from coolingmist.com they are only a few bucks

plus they have the relays with wiring harnesses to clean up an install

The Ebay force is strong within me LOL Im going to do the same thing with like 100 or 125 hp shot. hope this helps http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Boos...ryZ33742QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem :thumb:

I wonder if there is any way to make that switch work in the opposite direction? See, I want the nitrous to spray at WOT UNTIL the psi reaches 15 psi, then quit spraying nitrous.

If that switch completes a circuit when the the pressure reaches a set point, then I guess wiring it to a relay that stay open until a current is sent to it, with the relay completing a circuit to the nitrous solenoid, might work. Hell, with all that switching and relaying, I wonder how long it would take the nitrous solenoids to figure out what's going on and shut down! LOL

I thought the same thing and I email the question and got this:
"Yes, it has normally open and normally closed ports so it can be wired to turn on or off any 12V device. thanks."
hope that answers your question.

The turbosmart E-Boost electronic boost controller does exactly what your asking for. If your planning on that type of thing an electronic boost controller is not a bad idea for you anyway.

I could put together a circuit that uses transistors and digital logic to do this... it would only operate on 5V and a few mA - so there'd be no significant power drain. Also, even though the whole relay set up would be quick enough, this would be quicker, and there wouldn't be any moving or mechanical parts (like the relay armature, etc.). PM if you're interested, I found where to get pressure sensors and everything.

Actually, here's a sketch I just threw together. It might need some tweaking - but I've already made a few printed circuit boards and I have five specialty MAP sensors on their way. I'll test it out and let everyone know how it goes.

The reason it's hard to find is because not many people want to turn the nitrous off halfway through the powerband. What advantages do you see from turning the nitrous off after 15psi?

To gain back alot of the power you might lose in the lower RPM ranges.

my guess would be that hes planning to run a large turbo and wants the nitrous to help spool it.

Run a window switch and a full throttle switch. Then just set the window swtich to be between say your launching rpm and the rpm when you hit full boost and then it will also have to be at wot to spray.

This is exactly the direction I was thinking. Using the MAP's Pressure Sensor and Voltage Signals to trigger it.

Just use the MAP sensor curcuit to find a drop of (4.15v - 4.35v) = pushing 15psi

Maybe I'm confused, but my question is what is the advantage to turning the nitrous off after you've spooled the turbo? Why not just keep it on?

It depends on what boost you are running. If you're running 40 psi ona pt71/qtq, you might want the nitrous to spool it up, but a 100 shot on top of that power would certainly have the potential to brake somehting.
