Ok im a little worried I think I found out why my car wont start, the scanner is saying a cranksensor is out. I posted it in the fourm and everyone is saying crankwalk. The car is an automatic, 1997, with 93,000miles on it. Ive done as much homework as I can, and from what ive read, an automatic can't get crank walk because it doesnt have thrust bearings..... Anyone have any ideals on this..... Do the sensors on these cars go out normally or does it happen due to crankwalk????

ok dont want to sound like a ass but all motors regardless of auto or manual have thrust bearings because the crank has to move back and forth no mater what i think rule of thumb is 2 thousandths if im not mistaken and a auto can crank walk because everytime u put it in gear the torque converter has a load on it making it move very very little a manual will crank walk faster because evertime u push the clutch in u are shoving on the crank

so a manual is more pron to it and any motor can crank walk as we call it do to failure of the thrust bearing but will the motor turn over and just wont start or is it locked up

hope this helps...WAR

yea he is right so if it is turning over but not firing then it is ## CAS more than likely

its the crank or cam angle sensor because they tell the ecu when to let the coil pack ignitor to fire and if there off a little then there firing to late or to early if 1 or both of them are bad then it wont fire at all so read that post that other guy posted...it is very helpful cause ive used it before +1 for him for posting that for you
