free 14b upgrade, worth the trouble?

My neighbor (friend) is a machinist that also specializes in turbo's. He also has a 3KGT that's he done alot of stuff to. Anyway, we were bs'ing and he offered to upgarde my turbo for free. It'd take 2-3 weeks for him to do as he'd have to do "under the table" and in his spare time.

He said he wasn't sure if he'd be able to do much porting if any, but I have another friend who offered to do it for cheap. Besides a bigger wheel, what else could he my friend do and would it be worth the gains to go through the hassle of taking it off and not have my car running for 2-3 weeks?

I do have a backup car so not having my DSM running is ok.

Hell yea it would be worth it to get it done. especially for free. I have been thinkin about doing the 14b upgrade soon myself. I don't see why it would take so long for him to do it. It only takes a couple hours to do. Anyway i would definately do it.

Correct me IF I'm wrong but according to your profile it shows me a 1990 tsi awd? If I'm right then you already have a 14b (if your a 5speed that is and you will not need this turbo at all.

If I'm incorrect please.... Update your profile and then explain what kinda car the 14b would be going on.

Sorry for the confusion Red98, that is my car but I'm talking about getting an upgrading done (not buying one) on the 14b that came on it.

It'd take him a couple weeks bc he'd need to sneak around and do it. But I searched and found you can almost turn a 14b into a small 16G. Hell if he could do that, then I might as well find a 2G exhaust manifold along w/ a new o2 housing to get a nice gain.
