Ok this is the first time I've ever changed a timing belt. I feel that I can do it and I bought all the right tools to do the job I don't like to use Jerry Rigged tools. Well my question is this, I bought everything for the timing belt but the idler pulley, timing belt pulley, and oil pump. I didn't have the money to buy this and my car has 85,345 miles on the orignal belt. Now is it going to hurt to change everything but the oil pump and the idler and timing belt pulley. I plan on doing the oil pump in the near furter but I still have awesome oil pressure but I'm replacing the seals on it along with removing the balance shaft's also. What are the chances of the idler pulley and timing belt pulley giving out. I'll change them later when I do the oil pump but should I just wait and get the pulleys when I get the money or just change the belt now and worry about those later down the road. I feel that changing the belt is more important at the moment than anything else, and getting rid of the balance shaft's also. I notice most of the kits just come with the belts and tensioner so I'm figuring it shouldn't hurt anything by just changing the belt and shaft. Thanks in advance.

-I think you might have misunderstood on the timing belt pully giving out, timing belt pully is one piece steel, people have problem with the accessories pully seperating after awhile, this accessories pully is a seperate pully that bolt on to the timing belt pully.
-Why do you plan to replace the oil pump? or do you mean the oil seal on the rear balance shaft which is part of the oil pump gear, if the pump isn't making noise, having good pressure, there's no point of replacing it, FYI, the last time my oil pump fail/whining noise, it was due to worn front case housing, the entire aluminum part you'll see once you see the timing belt, that's the oil pump housing.

Perhaps he means the tensioner pulley (on the tensioner arm) and the idler pulley (on the other side of the engine mount). It's not clear to me exactly what the life span is for the two timing belt pulleys is. The manual says to replace them if they make any noise or are rough spinning. I replaced them when I did my 120k belt even though they seemed fine since I didn't know if they were changed at 60k.

I agree I wouldn't replace the oil pump unless you have signs of it failing. If your pulling the balance shafts you'll have the chance to inspect the oil pump clearances when you bolt the stub shaft on. If the housing is scored or the clearances are out of spec you'll have to replace the front cover/oil pump and you'll get new front seals in the process. Only the cam seals would be left on the front.

Steve had it right I was talking about the tensioner pulley and idler pulley. Just seemed to me that most of the kits don't contain these pulley's. I'm putting new seals on the front case, the oil pump kit I ordered came with the new seals. Thanks for the quick replies. I'll check the clearances on the gears when I have it out and see what I come up with.
